It all started for Claire Daly when she was an impressionable young girl, excited to see the Buddy Rich Big Band. When the three-months-into-playing dynamo saw Buddys sax section, she stood up on her seat and screamed! Dragging her Dad to the stage door for autographs after the show, she realized that she wanted to be on that tour bus - and so her musical journey began. What a cool journey it has been so far! At Berklee, Claire learned what she needed and made the jump to New York City quicker than you can say baritone sax. Yes, baritone. For several years, she has been part of the Diva Big Band - freelancing and teaching, too. Claire has graced many a recording, has done numerous film scores and jingles - and has played many a festival and gig all over the world. Most recently, she hosted her own CD release party for "Baritone Monk" - wait until you hear about THAT success! Claires got some friends who have taken note of her unique excellence on her instrument. One of them is Janice Rhoshalle Littlejohn who featured Claire in the project (film), "...but can she play?" Another is former President Bill Clinton. The William Jefferson Clinton Library in Little Rock, Arkansas requested Claires "Swing Low" CD for the Librarys listening station. As it turns out, this is a favorite album of Bills and he wanted to make sure it was always available in his "other" office! The amazing Ms. Daly is a six-time winner of Downbeat Magazines "Talent Deserving Wider Recognition" Award. And she makes sure that those around her get recognition as well, both present and past. She has a beautiful musical tribute to her second cousin that was releaased this year: "The Mary Joyce Project: Nothing to Lose" WAIT until you hear about THAT! Claire joins us at two p.m!
