AntiSocial Commentary Ep. 06 As the founding member and bassist for Black Flag back in the day, Chuck Dukowski was the man behind epic songs such as: "My War," "What I See," "Ive Heard It Before" and "Spray Paint" Chuck was also co-owner of SST records until the late 90s. SST was the label behind album releases for bands such as Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, the Descendants, the Meat Puppets and many more influential bands. Id say they were instrumental in many successes over the years. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that Chuck, "The Duke" basically founded the punk rock movement. He was definitely one of the key players that sparked inspiration for many of us, and paved the way to picking up our own instruments and forming our own bands... In a 2007 interview with Mark Prindle (http://www.markprindle.com/dukowski-i.htm) they discuss punk rock being dead. We will expand on these ideas and hear Chucks fascinating thoughts about creativity, music and whatever else he has going on upstairs. Also, Who influences the influencers? Im really interested in knowing who influences my influence? Black Flag is a band that is highly influential for many of us. If anyone has the authority to speak on all of the above, Chuck Dukowski is definitely an authority figure... ...Which means we should all rebel against him? That would be the punk rock thing to do. Chuck now has his own label "Nice and Friendly Records" that formed in 2006 and his current project is "The Chuck Dukowski Sextet" which is a band he formed with his wife and kids, with a sound that combines improv, jazz and "weirdness" elements that is art in its purest form, thus far escaping the stigma of a genre attachment. According to Chuck anyway. Tune in for this amazing interview...
